Bio…
George Patsalides was born in Famagusta, Cyprus in 1961. He currently resides in Limassol where he is employed as a Creative Director.
He loves to take simple every day or discarded material, anything that is not thought of as artistic, and transform them into art or use them to that end.
Characterized as an action artist more connected to the abstract expressionism, he believes in expressing the power held in the actual act of painting, as much as in the finished product.
He explores the formulation of raw material, by using simple gestures packed with an energetic discharge. This is a record of actions, spontaneously forced against the material in a process of impromptu experiments.
Central to his work is the nude female body which holds a fascination to the brink of obsession of the shape, which he repeatedly expresses in his drawings in an effort to capture the essence and sexuality that he believes overflows from it.
He has taken part in two group exhibitions both in Limassol and Nicosia and a number of his pieces are in private collections.
